The East New York Neighborhood Plan

The East New York rezoning significantly rewrote zoning rules across roughly 190 blocks of East New York and Cypress Hills to promote new housing, mixed-use development, and neighborhood commercial activity. It created one of the city’s first Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH) areas, requiring affordable units in new residential projects and mapped enhanced commercial and mixed-use districts along key corridors, including Atlantic, Pitkin and Liberty Avenues. The recently passed City of Yes for Housing Opportunity has also increased the development potential in the area.

The plan was APPROVED and adopted on April 20th 2016.
