White Plains Road Neighborhood Plan

The plan targets a section of White Plains Road from Adee Avenue to the Bronx/Mount Vernon border, including parts of Gun Hill Road and East 233rd Street, an area well-served by public transit like the 2 and 5 subway lines, Metro-North, and various buses. The corridor features mostly low-rise commercial buildings and some mid-rise apartments built before the 1960s. Rezoning efforts between 2005 and 2011 promoted growth along major corridors while limiting it in lower-density areas, but since these occurred before the Mandatory Inclusionary Housing program, they do not require the inclusion of permanently affordable housing. If this lateste rezoning effort passes, it will include a portion of mandatoty affordable housing.

This plan was launched on May 21, 2025 and will likely be voted on sometime in 2027 or 2028.
